Verse of the Day: April 15, 2024

Anyone else feel like the Holy Spirit just slapped you upside the head with this verse of the day????

🗣️ ”Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger—“
‭‭Jacob (James)‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬ ‭

being quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to anger is not something that comes naturally to any of us. Think back to when you were a child and you thought you were right and your younger sibling was wrong. You didn’t even wanna give your younger sister a chance to plead her case because you just knew that you were right no matter what. I have definitely lived that out with my sister, and the outcome usually never went my way. @nat.irvin99 my sister could testify to this 😆😆 You would think that people would learn from these experiences, but our fallen natured and sin filled habits have such a strong hold on us. And we see this played out all the time, especially on social media and especially because this is an election year. In order for us to be people who follow the teachings of our Lord and who try to be imitators of Christ, we need to zip our lips and listen to others instead of just assuming that they are wrong and letting anger get the best of us. Now I am not saying that we are, be bulldozed into living in a world that is full of sin and idolatry. We are called to speak the truth in love. Noticed those words, though: in love. I’m talking to you, Christian warriors on Facebook and X where you are so vile and mean to anyone who you disagree with. That is not how you show the love of God to your neighbors…
❣️❣️❣️ My challenge today is to really take the time over the next week to pray about and think before you speak or type something. Does what you have to say bring correction, rebuke, and understanding with the love of God and your heart or are you saying these words to prove a point and put someone down? If even five people were to be more considerate and kind and speak out of love, we could have the opportunity to change the culture that just loves to put people down and cancel them.
